The Story of Libby & Ethan

Libby and Ethan met each other in October 2011 on a blind double date. Neither Libby or Ethan were terribly enthusiastic about a blind date, but both pleasantly surprised to find themselves attracted and intrigued at their first meeting in Boulder.

After a month of chitchat over the phone, the dating began, and we dated for the next 5 years. It was a challenging period for both of us, living through difficult family events and the stressors of graduate school and modern life. We also lived in different cities at that time, and the story of “Us” was one that seemed difficult to realize during these years. There were some breakups and reunions, and a very sad year when we didn’t know if we would ever see each other again.

And yet, our love insisted that it was real. In an unexpected reunion, we found our commitment to each other prevailed, and decided that we wanted to form a team and partnership in life. Things progressed quickly at this point, and we found ourselves quite happy together again. We bought a little country home in Golden, Colorado in December 2017. And soon after, Ethan dragged Libby (and our dog Suki) out on a hike on South Table Mountain, overlooking our new neighborhood. It was an unseasonably warm day, but the wintry wind was whipping over the hillside. We made our way to the top of the overlook, and shared some fond memories, and Ethan popped the question, and Libby agreed, and so did Suki.

In September of 2018 we eloped with our very close family around us. You can read about that story on our elopement page.

Now we wish to have our wedding reception and party to share with as many loved ones as we can, because you’ve been here to share in our story. You’ve shared our lives through hardships and loss. And now it’s time that we celebrate together! We are so glad that you will share this day with us. And if you cannot be there in June, let’s schedule another time to celebrate together.

Love you guys,

Elizabeth “Libby” and Ethan
